Welcome! Come and sit beside me, I'll put the kettle on.
I have written all my life. Dozens of diaries filled with scribbles, napkins, gum wrappers and the spillings of a fragile teenage heart may be stored at the back of the attic, but they still have a front row seat in my heart.
Learning through the craft
Through spinning videos and the spinning blog I started back in 2018 I have created a name for myself in the spinning world. Blogging has also sharpened my writing mind. In recent years I have learned to peel the writing onion; go deeper, dare more, stretch my writing muscles to see where they take me inside and outside the spinning world. I know when I shifted from knowing how to spin to being a spinner; from knowing how to write to being a writer.
These are not just interests or skills to me, they are ways to take in and digest the world. Sometimes, I spit it all out again in a whole new fashion, experiencing it from new angles. Being in my hands, in the shaping of words, wool or other raw materials, is where I thrive. It is in the making I explore, learn, grow, and share.
I used to work as a Sign Language interpreter, having the words literally in my hands and body for many years. I believe in the dance of body and mind in the process of making; words flowing through my hand onto the page, wool gliding through my fingers into yarn, reading the movements with my fingerprints and waltzing them into their unique beauty.
I write in the early morning, the core and essence of my day, to be the first to breathe the freshly made air. Writing may begin as a spark in yoga practice or when walking, but sooner or later it will land on the page.
A background
My academic background is in linguistics and bilingualism. My day job is as an administrative official dealing with teacher licensing and plain language in the decisions we send to applicants. In my heart I am a spinner, spinning teacher and a crafter of words. I have written several articles in magazines like Spin-Off and PLY. I knit at office meetings, I can’t stand paper towel rolls on the dinner table and love stepping on dry alder cones and acorn hats just to hear the crackling noise. I take daily baths all year round in my nearby lake in Stockholm, Sweden. My spinning book Listen to the wool will be released in November 2025.
What to expect
In this space I share my explorations of words, wool, crafting, and journeying along the winding paths of life through my pen. Sometimes as reflections or stories, other times as poetry or as a combination of different styles. This is where I write beyond the limitations of a blog or a book, where I practice being brave with my words and molding them into beauty.
If you enjoy evocative writing about the little things in a big world, this is a space for you. Bring your favourite tea mug and have a read. Enjoy!
