A reservoir in London's zone 2, so pretty urban. And now that the weather (and water) are getting warmer, increasingly busy. I reckon around 15 degrees in the water is the sweet spot for me. You?
This is stunning, your writing is so poetic. I was right there with you feeling that magic of the water, the patterns. I'm a cold water swimmer and have an ice bath in my garden! Thank you for these beautiful words <3
It's right between a Pieris and pear tree and I've got raised beds with flowers and veggies. I've even been in it when it's been hailstones. Very atmospheric.
There is a lovely place I swim every week with a group of friends - it's like a lake but is actually an old mine (properly filled in). I just so resonate with the magic of your daily dips, and the noticing of the patterns in the waves. Beautiful <3
Delighted to walk with you on your way to the beach. Such a different place and culture that I’m able to sense and feel as you bring me along side of you.
Being from a warm weather location, the idea of a nude and icy bath is totally beyond my comprehension.
But, with your writing, I get the sense of exhilaration as you become one with the water.
On my walks in my suburban neighborhood, I’m keenly aware of sounds and smells. The songs of cardinals and wrens bring smiles as I inhale a multitude of fragances.
Oh! Someone’s having bacon for breakfast! Their laundry is drying as the scents waft from the dryer vents.
Later on, the barbecue grills suggest roasted chicken for dinner as a family gathers to eat together.
The freshly mowed lawn adds an earthly grassy scent that invites a deeper breath!
The ice cream truck song beckons the children who chatter excitedly as they wait for its arrival.
Everyday sights and sounds suggest the ordinary, and yet, they become extraordinary when taken together as a tapestry.
How much do I love this line.... I meet new people and am genuinely surprised they don't see that magic has just happened, that the moss is a little greener, the air a little brighter.
ahhhh, the vernal freshness chased down by a warm drink-love that pic and this piece. the many edges and angles conveyed...you...at the edges of spring...keep sharing, please.
This is sooo beautiful, Josefin. Thank you. Thank you for taking me to your Sacred Pool. Thank you for letting me slid in with you and experience the coolness and coldness, the space between the waves and then the divine bright colours of moss on the way home. Bless you Josefin and thank you.
Oh, you've made me want to be in *my* cold water place! I love how you've conveyed the stillness and peace that follows.
Thank you! Where in the world is your cold water place?

Ooh! I’m in lake Mälaren in Stockholm. 12 °C this morning.

Thank you, I’m glad you enjoyed it! Lucky you to have a garden ice bath too. Do you have a lake nearby too?
I know, I am lucky. I wrote about it on my 'other' newsletter: https://daintydora.substack.com/p/between-the-pieris-and-the-pear-tree
