Start here
Welcome to my digital publication Of Words and Wool, I’m so glad you found my space. This is where I share my essays in topics like crafting, nature, writing and a bit of poetry. All my essays are free for you to read and enjoy. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask.
If you are new here, I’d like to offer you a tour around my publication.
The navigation bar
Since you are reading the Start Here page, you are at the navigation bar of my magazine. This is where you will find information rather than essays – about my upcoming book Listen to the Wool, about my online spinning school and about me. In the Archive you will find all my previous posts. Dig in and have a read!
Notes is a social network where I share snippets of poetry, reflections and a photo or two, snapshots of whatever is on my mind at the moment.
Essays
The main part of my publication is of course my essays. This is where I peel the onion and dive deep into a topic and invite you to join me on the ride. If you are a subscriber you will get the essays in your inbox. You can either read them there or click on the headline and read them in your browser. If you read the essays in the browser you can leave comments on the posts. If you read them in your email you can reply to the email if you like.
There are several ways to find one particular essay:
In the Archive (in the navigation bar, see above)
In the Gallery
In the Most popular list
In the Sections space.
These spaces offer different ways to display the essays.
Gallery
The gallery is the grid at the center where my latest posts are visible. I have also chosen to pin the center post to welcome you to my publication.
Most popular
Underneath the gallery is a selection of the posts that the platform have calculated as most popular.
Sections
Further down on my homepage you find sections. A section is another way of organizing the essays – one section for one category of writing. I have bundled my essays in four categories:
In my hands – essays about being in my hands and in the process of making with natural materials and hand tools.
In the elements – whether I’m in an ice bath or on a mossy log, this is the section where I share my joy of seasonal change and being in the elements.
in Squiggly lines I share my joy of writing.
A sense of home is a space where I write about my safe spaces, home and family.
The Substack app
Another way to read my work, and especially my notes, is through the app. You can download it wherever you download your apps.
